America’s Cup – Ginevra – Alinghi festeggerĂ il suo decimo anniversario nel Settembre 2010 e, sebbene abbia perso l’America’s Cup nel giorno di San Valentino, il team svizzero ha sempre al suo attivo due straordinarie vittorie, è orgoglioso dei risultati raggiunti e dei suoi valori.
Alinghi rappresenta l’apice della passione di Ernesto Bertarelli per la vela e, sin da quando il team è stato fondato, le persone che lo compongono hanno rappresentato la sua forza, dai velisti ai progettisti, i tecnici di terra e tutti coloro i quali lavorano dietro le quinte come il team meteo, i dipartimenti della comunicazione e del marketing insieme a quelli dell’amministrazione e della finanza.
Nel 2003 Alinghi è stato il primo team europeo a vincere l’America’s Cup nei suoi 158 anni di storia, un successo bissato appena quattro anni dopo, nel 2007, in quello che è stato l’evento di America’s Cup di maggior successo nella storia della manifestazione, che comprendeva anche tre anni di pre regate.
Il capitolo della 33a America’s Cup è chiuso, ma Alinghi continuerà a percorrere la sua strada, anche se non è ancora stato deciso il come e il quando.

Alinghi ha sempre avuto l’obiettivo di vincere, ma per vincere bisogna anche accettare il rischio di perdere. Fa parte del gioco. Quello dell’America’s Cup è un gioco duro e spietato. Oggi per la prima volta in 10 anni siamo stati sconfitti”.
“Noi dobbiamo accettare il fatto che il nostro avversario era un team che ha dimostrato di essere superiore e che aveva realizzato un prodotto fantastico, l’ala rigida, che ha messo a disposizione della loro imbarcazione una quantitĂ di potenza incredibile”.

AMERICA’S CUP, ERNESTO BERTARELLI AND TEN YEARS OF ALINGHI
[Alinghi Press Release] Alinghi will celebrate its ten year anniversary in September 2010 and while the Swiss team lost the America’s Cup on Valentine’s Day, it has two extraordinary wins to its count and remains proud of its achievements and what they represent.
Alinghi is the culmination of Ernesto Bertarelli’s passion for sailing and since the team’s inception in 2000, its people have been its strength – the sailors, the designers and the shore crew and all those that back them up in the weather team, the media and marketing departments, administration and finance.
In 2003 Alinghi was the first European team to win the America’s Cup in its 158 year history and it went on to render the most successful Cup event of all time in 2007, including three years of lead-up pre-regattas.
The 33rd America’s Cup chapter is over but Alinghi will continue. In what shape or form is yet to be decided.

“Alinghi has had a fantastic run in the America’s Cup. We created this team 10 years ago. We were the first team to win the America’s Cup from Europe in the history of this wonderful event. We were the first team to defend it successfully and put together a fantastic show in Valencia. This 33rd America’s Cup with these gigantic multihulls will always be remembered as a very unique, very special, very extraordinary event”.
“Alinghi has always been a team that has been about winning. But winning is also accepting the risk of losing. It’s part of the game. It’s a hard game the America’s Cup, and today for the first time in 10 years we are defeated”.
