[singlepic=744,250,170,,left]America’s Cup – Ginevra – Gran parte dei team iscritti alla 33ma America’s Cup radunati al secondo Competitor Meeting di Ginevra, hanno raggiunto un importante accordo nel percorso che permetterà di riportare la Coppa America in acqua.
Dieci dei dodici challenger presenti al meeting, unitamente al defender Alinghi, hanno espresso il desiderio unanime di lavorare assieme in modo costruttivo per definire il regolamento di classe e un regolamento che possa soddisfare tutti i partecipanti.

Tra le altre cose, si è stabilito che:
– L’Arbitartion Panel è stato allargato a cinque membri, due dei quali designati dagli sfidanti al termine di un processo democratico;
– Il Comitato di Regata dovrà essere accettato da tutti i team;
– Altri Ufficiali di Regata, Direttori Tecnici e Umpires saranno selezionati seguendo un processo analogo a quello seguito dall’ISAF;
– Due ACT saranno organizzati nel 2009, prima dello svolgimento della 33ma America’s Cup, in programma nel 2010.

Tutti i partecipanti al meeting di oggi si sono detti soddisfatti di quanto fatto e confidano di poter portare a termine il processo che porterà allo svolgimento della 33ma America’s Cup. Inoltre, hanno sollecitato ancora una volta BMW Oracle Racing a rimettere l’azione legale intrapresa e ad aderire ai prossimi incontri.

Il prossimo Competitor Meeting è in programma per dicembre.

33rd AMERICA’S CUP TEAMS REACH CONSENSU ON RULES GOVERNING THE EVENT

[Alinghi Press Release] A large majority of the teams entered in the 33rd America’s Cup today achieved another milestone in the process of getting the event back on the water during a second Competitor Meeting at the Société Nautique de Genève in Switzerland.
Ten of the twelve entered challengers present at the meeting, along with the defender Alinghi, expressed a unanimous will to work together constructively towards a class rule and regulations that satisfy all entered competitors.

Amongst other topics, it was agreed that:
– The Arbitration Panel be expanded to five members, with the two additional members being appointed by all the entered competitors through a democratic process;
– The Race Committee has been agreed by all the entered competitors;
– Other America’s Cup Race Officials, the Technical Director and Umpires will be selected following a similar process amongst ISAF officials;
– Two pre-regattas will be organised in 2009 before the 33rd America’s Cup in 2010.

All participants at today’s meeting expressed their satisfaction with the process and their confidence in ongoing plans progressing towards a 33rd America’s Cup. They also urged BMW Oracle Racing once again to drop their lawsuit and enter this process.

The next Competitor Meeting is scheduled for December.
