ORC Worlds 2014, Scugnizza e Hurakan sono già iscritti

Kiel – Già dai primi giorni di apertura delle iscrizioni online, il mondiale ORC di Kiel ha registrato alcune importanti iscrizioni.
Nella prima settimana si sono registrati quaranta equipaggi provenienti da otto paesi. Quindi ci sono buone possibilità che anche quest’anno si registrino oltre centi partecipanti, per conquistare i titoli che verranno assegnati nelle tre classi diverse, regatando nelle acque di Kiel. Le previsioni sono di arrivare a raggiungere dodici paesi rappresentati con team di alto livello tecnico, per un altro mondiale molto competitivo.
Tra gli iscritti Vincenzo De Blasio con Scugnizza, il campione del Mondo ORC in carica in Classe B, e Campione Europeo ORC 2012, sempre in Classe B. Scugnizza tornerà a regatare nel Baltico dopo aver vinto il primo campionato del mondo nel 2012 a Helsinki. Per il 2014 Scugnizza cerca la vittoria consecutiva del terzo mondiale, che costituirebbe uno storico primato.
Sarà Aniene il TP52 di Giorgio Mantin portare in alto il tricolore in Classe A tentando di strappare il titolo all’altra barca italiana Hurakan che ha conquistato il titolo ad Ancona nel 2013. Aniene ha tutte le credenziali per poter fare bene, avendo nel suo palmares il titolo di Campione Europeo Classe A nel 2012.
La lotta per l’oro potrebbe trasformarsi in una competizione serrata delle spettacolari imbarcazioni TP52 , visto che il vincitore di quest’anno del Campionato Europeo in Classe A è stato il TP52 norvegese Trucknor Wolfpack di Thomas Nilsson , già iscritto, come l’altro TP52 Blixt Pro Sailing della Svezia, secondo classificato nel mondiale 2012.
Tra gli altri iscritti un considerevole numero di equipaggi plurivittoriosi nei campionati mondiali ed europei, di cui diciannove solo dalla Germania. Altri team provengono dalla Repubblica Ceca, Danimarca, Italia, Paesi Bassi, Norvegia, Svezia e Hong Kong.
Per l’assegnazione delle medaglie ovviamente i team tedeschi sono i favoriti dai pronostici, perché regatano nelle acque di casa. Ma tra gli avversari più insidiosi nel prossimo Mondiale ci saranno anche Sporthotel di Karl Dehler da Greifswald il campione tedesco ORC, così come Patent 3 di Jens Tschentschner, da Lubecca, campione del mondo 2010 in Classe B. E ancora le due medaglie d’argento nei Mondiali 2010: Veolia di Bastiansen-Christensen da Flensburg Chinook di Friedrichsen, da Flensburg.
ORC WORLDS 2014, BUILDING MOMENTUM FOR ENTRIES
Kiel – The 2014 ORC World Championship held off Kiel, Germany next August is already building momentum only two weeks into the opening of the online entry system.
To date almost 40 teams from eight countries have already registered with the organizers at Kieler-Yacht Club, thus nourishing hopes for a racing fleet of over 100 yachts to fight on the waters of the Outer Kiel Fjord for world championship titles awarded in each of three different classes. Competitive teams from over a dozen nations are expected to come to Kiel, suggesting that this edition of the Worlds will be yet another high-caliber event.
Among these is Vincenzo de Blasio’s NM38 Scugnizza from Italy, the reigning ORC World Champion in Class B, and a past ORC European Class B Champion in 2012. Scugnizza will be returning to the Baltic after winning their first World championship in 2012 in Helsinki, and for 2014 they will be pursuing an unprecedented third World title.
One of the top entries amongst the larger Class A yachts is also from Italy: Giorgio Martin’s TP52 Aniene will set out to win their first World Championship title after succumbing to fellow Italian TP52 Hurakan in this year’s Worlds in Ancona. Aniene also has the credentials to win, being the ORC European Class A Champion in 2012.
But the fight for gold could well turn into a close competition of the spectacular TP52 yachts, since this year’s ORC European Class A title holder, Thomas Nilsson’s Trucknor Wolfpack from Norway will also be in the game, and so will Sweden’s Blixt Pro Sailing, who was the 2012 Worlds Class A runner-up.
A number of other ORC World and ORC European medal-winning teams are also listed among the entries, of which currently 19 are from Germany. Teams from outside Germany are coming from the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Hong Kong, with more expected to sign up in the next few months.
Among the favored German teams to win medals when they race on home waters next summer is the current ORC German national champion, Karl Dehler’s Dehler 38C Sporthotel from Greifswald, as well as the 2010 Class B World champion Jens Tschentschner’s X-332 Sport Patent 3 from Lübeck. The two local-based silver medallists from the 2010 Worlds in Flensburg – Torsten Bastiansen’s XP 38 Veolia and Johann Friedrichsen’s X-332 Chinook – will also be strong contenders.
