MATCH RACE, PLEANTY OF MOVEMENT IN THE RANKING LIST
[ISAF Press Release] In the Open Match Race Rankings there has been plenty of movement in the top 25 following a busy few weeks of match racing.

The sailors competing in the 2011 Congressional Cup have seen the most movement but Ben Ainslie retains a strong lead.

The Women’s Match Racing Rankings have seen little change since the start of February with Claire Leroy maintaining her lead for the second month in a row over Nicky Souter.

Open Rankings
Since the last release of the Open Rankings there has been no change in the top six with Ben Ainslie leading Adam Minoprio by 945 points.

Mathieu Richard, who finished third at the Congressional Cup, is #3 in the Open Rankings followed by Torvar Mirsky and the 2011 Congressional Cup winner Ian Williams with Sweden’s Bjorn Hansen at #6.

Eugeniy Neugodnikov climbed five places to #9 when the last rankings were announced and he moves further up the rankings to #7 this month after an eighth place finish at the Congressional Cup.

The Russian leaps ahead of Pierre-Antoine Morvan and Francesco Bruni.

William Tiller has had a busy couple of months of match racing winning the ISAF Grade 3 Hardy Cup and California Dreamin Long Beach Stop and placing second at the ISAF Grade 2 Ficker Cup. As a result, the New Zealander climbs from #35 to a personal best ranking of #26.

Evan Walker came second in the Hardy Cup and is the biggest climber moving from #84 to #43 in the Open Rankings. His best ranking so far is #33.

Women’s Rankings
Claire Leroy narrowly leads Nicky Souter by 11 points in the Women’s Match Racing Rankings.

Both are set to compete at the Trofeo SAR Princess Sofia regatta in Palma, Spain and Semaine Olympique Francaise in Hyeres, France, the third and fourth of seven regattas on the ISAF Sailing World Cup series.

Whoever comes out on top in both regattas will no doubt be leading the next edition of the Women’s Match Racing Rankings on 18 May 2011.

Just 65 points separate Lucy Macgregor at #3, Anna Tunnicliffe at #4 and Renee Groeneveld at #5.

Macgregor is 290 points behind Souter and trails Leroy by a further 301. Macgregor, Tunnicliffe or Groeneveld will need to put in a winning performance in Palma and Hyeres if they are to knock the two leaders off the top of the rankings.

In the top 50, Amanda Scrivenor has climbed the most places as she moves from #49 to #39 after placing third at the Grade 3 Harken International Women’s Match Racing Regatta.
