[singlepic id=1839 w=300 h=204 float=left]Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup – Porto Cervo – Dopo la vittoria all’inizio dell’anno nella prima edizione della RORC Caribbean 600, Danilo Salsi ed il suo affiatato equipaggio sono tornati in Mediterraneo a bordo dello Swan 90 DSK Pioneer Investments e si stanno preparando all’evento più prestigioso della stagione, la Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup (6-12 settembre). Organizzata dallo Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, nel 2009 questa bellissima regata festeggia la 20ma edizione, a cui prenderanno parte 44 teams provenienti da 16 paesi.

Salsi è uno dei pochissimi armatori italiani a gareggiare nei circuiti internazionali di regate offshore e Maxi. Dopo aver portato orgogliosamente il guidone dello YCCS in varie regate (inclusa la Rolex Sydney Hobart e la Newport Bermuda Race) DSK Pioneer Investments fa quindi il suo ritorno nelle acque di casa per regatare contro tanti teams provenienti da tutto il mondo.

A proposito del Mondiale Maxi, l’armatore e timoniere Danilo Salsi così commenta: “Non vediamo l’ora di disputare una settimana intensa di regate. Sarà la prima volta con lo Swan 90 a Porto Cervo e penso che le condizioni meteo saranno ideali per la barca”.

In occasione della Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, DSK Pioneer Investments competerà anche per il trofeo Swan Maxi Class, opposto allo Swan 90 Solleone di Leonardo Ferragamo e allo Swan 82 Grey Goose (GER).

“In questo periodo dell’anno, è abbastanza probabile che il Mistral crei condizioni impegnative per la flotta, ma comunque vedremo DSK Pioneer Investments molto competitivo”, dice il tattico Andrea Casale.

Il team di Salsi include il suo tattico di fiducia dello Swan 45 e del Farr 40, Andrea Casale (Campione del Mondo J24 su Fiamma Gialla), così come i trimmers Vittorio Rosso e Alessandro Franci e il navigatore Francesco Mongelli. Ci sono anche due nuovi arrivi: Neil Cox (Puma/ABN Ambro) e Nick Bice (Delta Lloyd/ABN Ambro) entrambi grandi esperti di regate offshore, avendo preso parte all’edizione 2008-2009 della Volvo Ocean Race.

Dopo il Mondiale Maxi, DSK Pioneer Investments punterà alla Rolex Middle Sea Race, che prenderà il via il 17 ottobre da Malta. Dopodichè DSK Pioneer Investments farà ritorno ai Caraibi per disputare un programma impressionante di regate nel 2010, che include RORC Caribbean 600, Heineken Regatta, St Bart’s Bucket, Antigua Race Week e Newport Bermuda Race.

[DSK Pioneer Investments Press Release] Following on from their win earlier this year in the inaugural RORC Caribbean 600, Danilo Salsi and his accomplished team onboard Swan 90 DSK Pioneer Investments have returned to the Mediterranean and are preparing for the most prestigious event of the season, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. Organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, 2009 marks the 20th edition of this elaborate regatta, which will include 44 teams from 16 countries.

Salsi is one of the few Italian maxi owners to compete in the international offshore and maxi racing circuits. Having proudly flown the YCCS burgee in numerous regattas (including the Rolex Sydney Hobart and Newport Bermuda Race) DSK Pioneer Investments gladly return to their home waters to race against the myriad teams from abroad.

Commenting on the outlook for the Maxis, owner and helmsman Danilo Salsi stated: “We are looking forward to an intense week of racing. It will be the first time that we race the Swan 90 in Porto Cervo and I think the conditions will be ideal for the boat.”

During the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, DSK Pioneer Investments will also be competing for the Swan Maxi Class trophy, lining up against Leonardo Ferragamo’s Swan 90 Solleone (ITA) and the Swan 82 Grey Goose (GER).

“At this time of year, it is quite likely that the mistral will be in play providing challenging conditions for the fleet, but which will see DSK Pioneer Investments excel,” said tactician Andrea Casale.

Salsi’s team includes his trusted tactician from the team’s Swan 45 and Farr 40, Andrea Casale (Fiamma Gialla, J24 World Champion), as well as trimmers Vittorio Rosso and Alessandro Franci alongside navigator Francesco Mongelli. Recent additions to the crew include Neil Cox (Puma and ABN Amro) and Nick Bice (Delta Lloyd and ABN Amro) both of whom bring considerable offshore experience including having participated in the 2008-2009 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race.

Following on from the Maxis, DSK Pioneer Investments will set their sights on the Rolex Middle Sea Race, which starts on 17 October in Malta. From there it is back to the Caribbean for DSK Pioneer Investments whose impressive 2010 programme includes the RORC Caribbean 600, Heineken Regatta, St Barth’s Bucket, Antigua Race Week and the Newport Bermuda Race.
