Vela e record, un nuovo primato per l’Hydroptere

Vela e record – Hyéres – Continua in grande stile la campagna di inseguimento ai record de l’Hydroptère. L’avveniristico multiscafo di Alain Thébault ha migliorato il primato sul miglio nautico superando i 50 nodi. Il team francese ha fatto registrare una media di 50.17 nodi lungo i 1852 metri del percorso.

L’Hydroptère aveva battuto il primato di Bjorn Dukerbeck già nell’aprile del 2007 e con la performance di oggi lo ha innalzato di ben nove 9 nodi.

SAIL AND RECORD, ONE NEW RECORD FOR THE HYDROPTERE
[Source l’Hydroptère] L’Hydroptère’s record campaign in the Mediterranean ended in great style last Sunday as Alain Thébault and his ten crew members smashed the record over one nautical mile i.e. exceeding 50 knots.

An average speed of 50.17 knots * (92.91 km/h) over 1 nautical mile (1.852 km). That is the new record to beat over this distance.

Since April 2007, l’Hydroptère has improved this record which was brought to 41.14 knots by Bjorn Dunkerbeck in October 2006 i.e. 9 knots under l’Hydroptère’s last performance. Today such a speed over this distance seems difficult to exceed.

This last record is a wonderful present for Alain Thébault, Thierry Lombard and the whole team as well as for their new sponsor Audemars Piguet rewarding them for their commitment and perseverance.
