Vendée Globe, Riou e Le Cléac’h raggiungono Le Cam

[singlepic=1275,250,170,,left]Vendée Globe – Oceano Pacifico – Vincent Riou (PRB) ha raggiunto la posizione di VM Materiaux alle 14.30 GMT, seguito dopo una trentina di minuti da Armel Le Cléac’h (Brit Air). L’obiettivo dei due skipper è uno: stabilire un contatto con Jean Le Cam, che dal momento del ribaltamento non ha più dato alcun segno di vita.

Già da alcune ore è in zona anche la petroliera Sanagol Kassagie. Il Comandante del cargo, giunto sulle coordinate di VM Materiaux alle prime luci dell’alba, ha comunicato alla Direzione Gara che a causa delle condizioni meteo – vento teso a oltre 40 nodi e mare agitato – non è in grado di organizzare il recupero del naufrago. Si apprende intanto che verso Le Cam si stanno dirigendo anche un peschereccio d’altura, lontano circa 120 miglia, e una nave cilena, attesa in zona nell’arco di quattordici ore.

Philippe Etienne, Segretario di Gabinetto del Ministero degli Affari che tiene in contatti tra i vari enti impegnati nelle operazioni di recupero, sta aspettando l’arrivo della relazione da parte dei piloti dell’aereo che poche ore fa hanno sorvolato lo scafo di VM Materiaux.

VENDEE GLOBE, RIOU AND LE CLEAC’H ON LE CAM POSITION
[Vendée Globe Press Release] Vincent Riou will be reaching VM Matériaux at around 14.30 GMT and Armel Le Cléac’h thirty minutes or so later. The two sailors will then be focusing on one goal: entering in contact with Jean Le Cam to get a reaction from him, hoping to obtain some sign of life, as it would appear that Jean did not hear the foghorn on the oil tanker, which has been positioned alongside the upturned Lombard designed boat since this morning.

The MRCC have asked the tanker to remain on the spot, which it will now be doing. In addition, two extra boats have become involved in the rescue operation: a fishing boat located 120 miles from VM Matériaux, is diverting to the area. But also a Chilean naval tug has been dispatched. It should be in the area in 14 hours time.

Philippe Etienne, the Cabinet Secretary to the French Foreign Secretary with whom the organisers are in contact, is awaiting the imminent arrival of the report from the plane pilot, who flew over VM Matériaux this afternoon.
